1996 Big 12 All-Academic honorable mention

Senior (1996): Almquist made six appearances and three starts at forward, scoring two goals and adding two assists on 11 shot attempts. She had a goal and an assist against No. 6 Nebraska on Oct. 13. Almquist scored a goal and had an assist again in the final game of the year against Hawai'i on Nov. 2. She started the final three games of the year.

CU Club Team: She was tabbed "Most Valuable Rookie" of Colorado's club soccer team her freshman year ('92).

High School: A four-year letterwinner at Punahou High School, Honolulu, Hawaii coached by Debbie Ching. Almquist was named honorable mention all-state as a junior and first-team all-state as a senior, and was honored as the Most Valuable Player of the varsity team following her senior season. She also earned letters in track (three) and volleyball (one) and her career as a trackster culminated with her role on Punahou's state champion 4X100 relay team her senior year.

Personal: Majoring in French and elementary education, Almquist was born April 21, 1974, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her parents are Eldon and Barbara Almquist of Kailua, Hawaii. She was recruited by San Diego State out of high school, but wanted to come to Colorado in the hope that the school would initiate a Division I soccer program before her graduation. Her full name is Jennifer Christine Almquist.
