As a Sophomore in 2011
Beckwith saw action mainly as the libero, but also saw some time as a defensive specialist. She played in all but one match during the season. Beckwith improved her career-high digs to 32 in a five-set match against Oregon State (10/28). The 32 digs in a single game is the sixth best total in CU history. She also picked up 428 total digs for the season which ranks fifth on CU's single season list. It was the most by a sophomore, breaking the previous record of 416 by Michele Kohler in 1990. Beckwith finished the inaugural season in the Pac-12 ranked ninth in digs with 4.16 digs per set. In six different matches, Beckwith posted 20 or more digs. She finished off the season with career totals 98 assists, 829 digs, 4.17 digs per game and 29.0 points. Her 829 career digs ranks 16th on the all-time list.
As a Freshman in 2010
Beckwith made her collegiate debut and first career start against Furman (8/27). Beckwith went on to play in all of Colorado's 26 matches, playing in all but one set for the Buffs. She became the first Buffalo since 2008 to record more than 20 digs in a match (25), which she did against Georgia State (9/3). In the following match against Montana (9/4), Beckwith became the first player since 2007 to record 30 digs in a match with a career-high 30 digs, which broke Elizabeth Gower's freshman single match record of 28. She recorded 20 or more digs in seven matches this season. On a whole she recorded 401 digs to rank eighth in the CU single season chart. Beckwith broke Karrie Downey's 1991 freshman record for digs in a season (347) and digs per set (3.25) as she averaged 4.18 per set which also ranked seventh in the Big 12. Beckwith was named a finalist for the CU Female Freshman of the Year Award.
High School
Beckwith played for Heritage High School and was the state single season digs record holder with 646 in 2009; she also owns the record for the most digs in a single match at 56. As a junior she recorded 473 digs and her sophomore year she collected 197 digs. Her career total of 1,316 is a school record and ranks third in the state. The HHS Pride won the 2009 Cedar Run District Tournament and was the co-Dulles District Champions in 2008. Her high school team was coached by Carmel Keilty, ESPN The Magazine's High School Volleyball Coach of the Year in 2000 and a three-time Virginia Coach of the Year. Beckwith was second-team all-state and first-team all-district as a senior and was a member of the all-district second team her junior year.
As a member of the Virginia Elite Volleyball Club, Beckwith helped the team qualify for the open division at the USAV Junior Olympics in 2008. Beckwith also played for the NVVA team her season year. She was also a member of the National Honors Society and was named the Geometry Student of the Year as a freshman. Beckwith was also recruited by Penn State, Ohio State, Georgia, Virginia Tech and Delaware but choose CU "for everything." She added, "The coaches are everything that I could have hoped for. The CU family has set very high goals for the program and I love the fact that I would be a part of that incredible journey."
Personal
Megan Elizabeth Beckwith was born on July 31, 1992 in Bethesda, Maryland. Her parents are Paul and Amanda Beckwith of Leesburg, Va. She has one older sister, Lindsey, who attends Virginia Tech. Beckwith lists her hobbies as snowboarding, listening to music, watching movies, reading and drawing. She originally wanted to play soccer in college, but once she starting playing volleyball in eighth grade, Beckwith never looked back.
Academics
Beckwith is majoring in integrative physiology and is also interested in exercise science. She has a greater than 3.00 heading into her sophomore year. Beckwith was a member of the National Honor Society in high school.
