Sam McGee joined the CU Athletic Department in July 2024 as an Assistant Coach for the Colorado lacrosse team. In her role, she helps coach the Buffs lacrosse team with a focus on player development, practice planning and recruitment, while also contributing to game strategy and fostering a positive team culture.
McGee was a lacrosse athlete herself for CU – a graduate transfer after four years of playing lacrosse for St. Joeseph’s. She started in all 36 games she played for the Buffs, and she totaled 88 goals, eight assists, 19 ground balls, 16 caused turnovers and 64 draw controls. She recorded a career-high six goals at Arizona State (Mar. 26, 2023) and finished second in both the Pac-12 and on the team in goals. She was an All-Pac-12 First Team selection in 2023, and at St. Joe’s, was named to the 2018 Atlantic 10 All-Tournament Team and All-Rookie Team.
Prior to returning to CU, McGee spent time in the corporate world working for Aldi USA in 2023 and for RxSugar in 2024. McGee graduated from CU in 2023 with a master’s degree in organizational leadership, and she received her bachelor’s in business administration from St. Joe’s in 2021.
Born October 11 in Abington, Pa., she graduated from Abington High School in 2017. She played lacrosse for both her high school team and club team, Phantastix Lacrosse Club. Her father, Jason McGee, played lacrosse at West Chester. McGee lives in Denver, and in her spare time enjoys skiing.
