Senior Hunter Swanson led the Buffaloes with a 3-under 68-71—139 scorecard, tying him for 16th in the standings at the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate.
- He was consistent from the get-go on the 7,555-yard, par-71 Papago Golf Course design, as he played all three hole configurations even or better (2-under on the par-4's 1-under on the par-5's and even on the par-3's – the latter impressive as the four par-3's were among the seven toughest Friday.
- That tied for 11th-best in the 60-man field). He was 1-over through seven, but then birdied Nos. 8 and 9 back-to-back – the one on the 8th just one of eight all day on the hole – and would remain in the red the rest of the day.
- He finished up with six birdies and 27 pars (eighth-most) with just three bogeys.
