Tennis Sweeps Yale, 7-0

BOULDER - The University of Colorado women's tennis team won their third straight match, sweeping Yale 7-0, Tuesday afternoon.

“We are a different team today than we were three weeks ago,” said CU head coach Nicole Kenneally. “Everyone is healthy and feeling good and we're ready for the Big 12. The team is reaping the benefits of all their hard work.”

The Buffs are 2-0 overall against Yale, the two teams last met in 1981.

Monica Milewski and Camila Belassi claimed an 8-5 victory at the No. 1 doubles spot. The duo of Franziska Jendrian and Melisa Esposito continued their winning streak (6-0), with an 8-5 triumph at the No. 2 spot. At No. 3, Gleisy Torres Torres and Abbie Probert grabbed their fourth consecutive doubles win.

After sweeping the doubles point, Colorado continued to dominate in the singles round. At No. 6, Jendrian scored the first singles victory, defeating Silia DeFilippis. Torres Torres defeated Lindsay Clark at the No. 3 spot for her 66^th career singles win and Esposito topped Lilian Nguyen, 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 5 position.

Milewski and Jendrian each collected their 51^th singles victory.

Veera Nurmi scored a 7-5, 6-3 win over Stevi Petrelli, her 65^th career singles win. She has won six of her last seven matches.

Colorado's 7-0 win against Yale is their third sweep of the season. They previously shut out Missouri and Northern Colorado.

Colorado will continue the homestand, hosting Kansas on Friday, Mar. 14 at 2 p.m. and Kansas State on Sunday, Mar. 16 at 11 a.m.
