BOULDER- The University of Colorado tennis team rolled to their third consecutive sweep with a 7-0 victory over No. 55 Kansas, Friday afternoon.

“I think we had great team performance today,” said CU head coach Nicole Kenneally. “I really liked our fight today. We're getting to where we want to be as a team. Kansas played well today, it was a tough match.”

The team of Melisa Esposito and Franziska Jendrian got the Buffs started by beating the Kansas team of Lauren Hommel and Kunigunda Dorn 8-2. Esposito and Jendrian claimed their seventh straight doubles match. Gleisy Torres Torres and Abbie Probert kept the momentum going, downing Kansas' Yuliana Svistun and Magdalena Tokarczyk 8-4. Torres Torres and Probert have won five consecutive doubles matches.

Colorado claimed all six singles points. At No. 4 Veera Nurmi collected her 66th career singles victory with a 6-4, 6-2 win over KU's Dorn. At No. 3 Gleisy Torres Torres notched her 67th career victory by defeating Edina Horvath 6-2, 6-3. Monica Milewski scored a victory at the No. 1 spot, topping Tokarczyk 6-3, 0-6, 7-5. Camila Belassi held the No. 2 spot, defeating Elizaveta Avdeeva 2-6, 7-5, 6-3.

The win is Colorado's fourth straight win. The 7-0 win over Kansas is the third sweep in a row for the Buffs; they previously swept Missouri and Yale. It's the first time since the 1989-90 season that the Buffaloes have put together three consecutive shutouts.

The Buffs improved to 5-6 overall and 2-0 in the Big 12. Kansas fell to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the Big 12. The Jayhawks lead the overall series 24-14. CU has won seven of the last nine matches.

Colorado will continue the homestand, hosting Kansas State on Mar.16 at 11 a.m. at the Millennium Harvest House.
