Colorado-Wyoming Quotes

"It's a great way to go into the holiday break. We are excited to come out of that one with a win. Wyoming is always really tough, played us tough every year, doesn't matter necessarily the records are, or who the players are, when Colorado plays Wyoming it's always a great game. I really liked our intensity today down the stretch. I thought one of our players, Bri Watts, said it best, 'We went from the Grinch without any heart, to a team with a whole lot of heart.' We capitalized on momentum plays that we had in that game, and really just happy to come away with the win down the stretch and I liked the way we finished the game."
On  What The Key Was Down The Stretch
"It started on the defensive end, and it always does for us. We weren't getting stops in the first half and we weren't getting stops coming out of halftime. We had some different players playing, some different lineups, we were without [starting PG] Lexy Kresl. I thought [PG] Brecca Thomas did a nice job leading our team from the point guard position. In that game you looked at [G] Jasmine Sborov making plays, I think she was on the floor two straight possessions, diving on the floor, getting deflections, just making plays defensively. Up until that point we hadn't really made any plays, getting defensive rebounds, we weren't creating any sort of energy or momentum. I thought, when she dove on the floor a couple of times, it really changed the momentum, she gave her teammates a lot of energy and we fed off of that and used it to capitalize on the offensive end. Once we got our offense flowing, we were really tough to stop."
On What She Saw From F Jamee Swan Energy Wise
"I thought Jasmine [Sborov] started it, but it doesn't take Jamee much for her to get excited, and that's a great thing, that's what we love about her. I've got to give Jamee a lot of credit, she was really unselfish off the bench, staying engaged in the first half, even though she had two fouls, she wasn't playing well right away, it was the first time she didn't start. There were a lot of things that a lot of players might get an attitude about, or they might hang their head about, and she didn't do that at all. When you stay engaged within the game, you'll be ready to play when the team needs you, and the team needed her to step up in the last 10 minutes and she did, and it was really fun to watch."
On Why She Made Replace Jamee Swan In The Starting Lineup
"Just practice, just play. Zoe's been doing some great things in practice and she's really earned her spot. I'm not saying that it won't change at some point again, but I thought that the way Zoe's been playing and how she started and her aggressiveness has really been key for us."
On Lexy Kresl's Injury And How It Effected The Game Plan
"She has an upper thigh injury in her quad, and right now she's day-to-day, it's just been a reoccurring thing and we'll go from here. Lexy's averaging 33 minutes a game, she's playing all those minutes at the point guard position, so that's a huge change. The good thing is we were able to practice a lot throughout the course of the week and [PG] Brecca [Thomas] got a lot of reps and Brecca is ready. I thought she was ready to step into that role, and she did a really nice job of running our team in the first half, and it was fun to see her get going. Ultimately, I think it will help us in the long run, in helping our team get better."Â

On Starting The Game Well
"We are a good team when we are moving the ball and we are getting good passes to each other, taking the shots that are open and not forcing anything. We were going back and forth with Wyoming scoring not and not getting stops. We had to bare down on defense today and we did."
On Being Down Ten Points At One Point
"You can never really be concerned with being down ten points in the first half. It's a big deal, but you can't let it affect you too much or you will be down even more by the end of the half. We just have to bare down like we did going into halftime, we just didn't bare down as much as we should have. But we brought that into the second half."
Difference In The Final Ten Minutes
"Our energy was a lot better going into the second half. When Jamee Swan comes in she takes that charge and makes that face, screaming I get excited and almost want to have a heart attack because it's so exciting. Our energy on the bench was great all game and that really helped and on the floor our players were playing as a team tonight. And that's really excited to watch and it gets everyone excited."

On Playing Well In The Second Half
"I would have to say our bench made a big impact on the energy in the second half. We as a team on the court feed off the energy given to us from our bench. I thought that energy was phenomenal and it was easy to feed off of them and to be energetic in the game."
On Coming Off The Bench
"I've always been told that it doesn't matter who starts the game just who finishes and who has the confidence to be in when big minutes are needed. I don't think it really affected me. Zoe (Zoe Beard-Fails) worked her butt off this week in practice and she deserved that start. It didn't really affect anything for me."
On Wyoming's Play
"Wyoming is just solid and they always have been. It's always a fun game and they execute what they do very well. They just came out throwing punches and we were kind of on our heels for a bit. But then we were able to get back into it."
