CU-USC Game Notes (Pac-12 Tournament, 1st Round)

TEAM NOTES

• Colorado improves to 5-0 over USC in Pac-12 games and 7-3 all-time.

• Season sweep of USC of all three games this season. Last time, CU won three games over an opponent in one season was Utah in 2011-12, the season they won the Pac-12 Tournament Championship.

• CU wins its 22nd game on the year, tying for the fourth most wins in a season. Coach Boyle owns three of the top four winningest seasons.

• CU advances past the first round in four straight post-season tournaments under Coach Boyle (2011 Big 12: semifinals; 2012 Pac-12: Title Game; 2013: Quarterfinals; 2014: Quarterfinals).

• CU was the No. 5 seed last year at the MGM, defeating Oregon State in the first round.

• The Buffaloes are 1-2 in neutral court games this season and 1-1 at the MGM (lost to then-No. 7/7 Oklahoma State, 78-73 on Dec. 21, 2013).

•  The Buffs are now 12-5 in postseason games (8-2 conference, 3-1 NIT, 1-2 NCAA) under Coach Boyle.

• .706 postseason winning percentage under Boyle ranks first in school history.

• Also a 14-10 (.583) record on neutral courts, third overall at CU.

• Boyle has won 91 games in four seasons, most wins in any four-year span in school history (91-48).

• CU made seven free throws improving its total to 614 on the season to move into second place all-time in school history (679: 2010-11).

• Coach Boyle's winning percentage (.655) is the best of any CU head coach in men's hoops history (min. 2 years).

• For only the second time all season, CU attempted just one free throw in the first half. The other occasion also came in the MGM Grand Garden Arena vs. Oklahoma State (Dec. 21, 2013). 

• CU has made at least one three-pointer in 397-straight games (dating back to Jan. 19, 2002). Today: 2 made.

• CU improves to 14-2 in single-digit games this season; 27-12 in 1-5 point games under Boyle.
• With 13 turnovers it marks the fourth straight game Colorado has committed double-digit turnovers.
• Askia Booker (21), Josh Scott (13), Xavier Johnson (11), and all scored in double-figures marking the 19th time that has happened this season. CU is 15-4 in those games. 

Askia Booker

• Fifth 20-point effort of the season (seventh career). CU improves to 6-1 when he scores over 20 pts. in career games

• 9 FGs made ties season-high (10 is career-best) • Led CU in assists 13 of 14 games (one shared).

• Moves into 21st place on the school's all-time scoring list (1,173 pts.); Moves into 18th place on the school's assists list (231).

 

Wesley Gordon

• 19th game w/ 6+ rebounds (6 today vs. USC) • Ranks 7th on the CU freshmen rebounding list (175).

 

Xavier Johnson

• Is 4-of-4 from the 3-point arc over his last two games (2-of-2 at California).

• 13 of last 14 games has scored in double-figures

 

Xavier Talton

• Tied a season and career-high 32 minutes against USC.

 

Tre'Shaun Fletcher

• Saw his first action since knee injury at Washington (Jan. 12) – 16 games ago.

 

Josh Scott

• Season-high 15 FG attempts.

• Grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, leading CU on the glass for the 22nd time this season (27th career).
