Nayar competes in ITA National Championship
BOULDER – The University of Colorado women's tennis team will close out the 2019 fall season this week when Sara Nayar competes in the ITA National Fall Championships starting Wednesday in Newport Beach, Calif., while the rest of her teammates will compete in the Rebel Invitational at UNLV in Las Vegas beginning Friday, Nov. 8.
Â
This is the third ITA sanctioned championship for Nayar this fall after competing in the ITA All-Americans Championship and finishing as the runner-up at the ITA Mountain Regional Championship. She is 5-5 this season in singles matches including four matches against top-100 players. She is also 6-3 in doubles matches with Monica Malinen.
Â
Colorado will also be competing in Las Vegas at the UNVL Rebel Invitational that will feature the season debut of Megan Forster. The sophomore missed the first part of the season due to injury but will be joined everyone in the squad.
Â
This will be the first time Malinen has competed without Nayar this season. The senior is the lone upperclassmen for the Buffaloes and should help along the rest of the sophomore and freshmen this final tournament before the team takes a long rest heading into the winter non-conference dual schedule.
Â
After winter break, Colorado returns to action in Fresno, Calif., against Southern Utah for the dual opener and then Fresno State on Jan. 17 and 19, respectfully. The team opens home competition and puts their 34-dual streak on the line against Colorado State Jan. 24.
