Buffaloes Travels to Idaho for Pair of Matches

BOULDER – The University of Colorado women's tennis team will travel to Boise, Idaho, this weekend to take on the University of South Dakota and host Boise State University Saturday at 10 a.m. (MT) and Sunday at 11 a.m. (MT), respectfully.

Colorado (5-5) had a 1-2 weekend in New York with a loss to No.19-ranked Syracuse and Cornell and victory against Binghamton. The Buffaloes were without senior Annabelle Andrinopoulos and had to begin every match down 0-2 in team points. Despite the set-backs, Megan Forster was able to lead the team with three singles wins in the No.3 singles matches.

The Buffs are led by Forster and Monica Malinen, both of which are 8-2 in dual matches this season. Forster is 5-0 when playing in the No.3 singles matches, while Malinen is 6-0 in the No.4 position. They are joined by Sara Nayar who is 6-3 this season and picked up her first No.1 singles victory against Binghamton.

The Coyotes of South Dakota (1-5) are the first team Colorado will face in Boise and picked up their first win of the season in Lincoln, Neb., against UMKC. South Dakota picked up the 6-1 win before losing 4-0 to the University of Nebraska the next day. The Coyotes also were swept by Kansas State and Minnesota this season. South Dakota is led by Habiba Aly who is 3-3 in No.2 singles matches this season.

Boise State (2-4) has two home wins this season against Idaho State and Lewis-Clark State. The Broncos defeated Idaho State 6-1 to open the season and swept Lewis-Clark State 7-0, but since have been on the road with losses to BYU and Utah most recently. Lilian Poling is the leader of the team with a 5-1 record in the No.2 singles position, while No.1 singles player Wilhelmina Palmer is 4-2. The duo has combined for a 5-1 record in doubles play.

Colorado returns home in two weeks with a match against Washington and Washington State on March 8 and 10, respectfully.
