November 19, 2025 | Volleyball
Junior pin attacker Ana Burilovic reached 1,000 career kills, becoming the 18th Buff to do so
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The 21st-ranked Colorado volleyball team (22-6, 12-4 Big 12) defeated West Virginia (15-12, 3-12 Big 12) in three sets (25-18, 25-21, 25-19) at Hope Coliseum on Wednesday, Nov. 19.
The Buffs made quick work of the Mountaineers, beating them in three short sets in just an hour and 16 minutes. CU recorded its 10th sweep of the season, holding WVU under .090 in all three sets.
"A pretty defensive-oriented match," head coach Jesse Mahoney said. "Happy to get a win on the road, and sweeps are hard to come by, so happy for that. We served particularly well – blocked and defended well. Our offense was not as efficient as we would like to be […] Hopefully we can get some more contributions on Friday against Cincinnati."

A Splawska-Jordan block and a kill from Dwinell helped the Buffs stay ahead (18-12, CU). West Virginia tried to put together a run, but kills from Jordan, Burilovic and Dwinell closed out the set for CU, 25-18.
- Set two began closer than the previous, with Splawska scoring first off a kill for the Black and Gold, and Payne notching a kill and Neal grabbing an ace (4-3, CU). CU saw kills from Burilovic and Jordan before Mountaineer errors handed CU three points (10-7, CU). After a Payne-Dwinell block, Colorado went on a 4-0 run with kills from Dwinell and Burilovic, and another Neal ace (17-11, CU). A late 4-0 run forced WVU to call a timeout after a kill from Jordan and an ace from Losada, but Losada had another ace out of the timeout (22-13, CU). West Virginia went on a late 5-0 run, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Buffs (25-21, CU).
- CU was hot out of the gate, going on a 5-0 run to force West Virginia to take an early timeout off kills from Burilovic (including her 1,000th), a Burilovic-Payne block and a Splawska ace (5-0, CU). Colorado scored five more times to take the score to 10-2 of a Payne-Dwinell block, Burilovic ace and Burilovic kill. The Buffs stayed steady through the set, with Burilovic seeing two more kills, Jordan getting a kill and Finley notching an ace (15-9, CU).
