Junior midfielder Maddie Shoup and sophomore attacker Teagan Ryan both recorded hat tricks
BOULDER – The Colorado lacrosse team (2-4, 0-0 Big 12) defeated Marquette (5-3, 0-0 Big Ten), 15-6, at Kittredge Field on Tuesday, Mar. 11.
After going down two goals early in the first quarter, goals from graduate attackers Madeline Pisani and Kendall Havill got the Buffs in gear. CU never looked back, maintaining its lead for the rest of the game. Colorado ran the clock on in the fourth quarter for the first time this season and beat Marquette, 15-6.
"It was a good outing for us, coming off that Michigan loss," head coach Ann Elliott Whidden said after the game. "I thought we came out strong, offensively, just playing together; a lot of different scorers was great. Defensively, I thought we did another good job of just limiting opportunities and coming up with some big plays […] We needed to rebound today. It's a long season. We've had a grind in the beginning, and we're proud of where we're at, but we have to keep getting better, and we look forward to the opportunity on Saturday."
Seven different Buffs scored for Colorado, five of those being two or more goals. CU out-shot Marquette 40-17 and won in the circle on 15 draws to the Golden Eagles' nine.
