Buffs Remain In 14th At Big 12 Championship
April 16, 2025 | Women's Golf
HOCKLEY, Texas - Colorado women's golf remains in 14th place after two rounds of the 2025 Big 12 Conference Championship at the Houston Oaks Country Club.
Â
The Buffaloes shot 25-over-par, 309, in Wednesday's second round, five shots higher than Tuesday's first round. Colorado is 45-over for the championship, nine strokes behind Texas Tech in 13th at 36-over.
Â
No. 30 ranked Oklahoma State is the second-round leader at 6-over, 574, after a 1-over round on Wednesday. No. 26 Houston is in second place, two shots back at 8-over. No. 15 TCU had the best single round of the day at even-par to jump into third place at 9-over, three shots behind the Cowgirls.
Â
Colorado's best stretch came right away in the opening holes of the round. The Buffaloes had four early birdies and had moved up to 2-under-par through the first four holes.
Â
That momentum didn't last long however. Colorado dropped six strokes collectively at the fifth and sixth. The Buffaloes only managed one additional birdie on the front and made the turn at 8-over, two strokes off Tuesday's pace.
Â
The Buffaloes struggled with the same stretch of holes on the back that hampered their efforts in the first round. Colorado played the four-hole stretch from the 13th to 16th at 8-over. The Buffaloes managed to play the 17th and 18th at even thanks to two of the four birdies gained on the back nine.
"It is really disappointing to move further in the wrong direction on moving day," Colorado head coach Madeleine Sheils said. "I know the team is frustrated. Our course management was better today, but, once again, we are making far too many doubles and wasting shots around the green. We will go out there tomorrow and give it our all."
Â
Junior Morgan Miller and senior Maria Eidhagen Harrouch hold Colorado's best 36-hole scores and are tied for 42nd at 9-over, 151. Miller had the day's best round for the Buffaloes with a 76 on the par 71 course. Miller was even through four but dropped three strokes over the next three holes, falling to 3-over. She was 6-over through 17 but gained back a stroke finishing her round with a birdie at the 342-yard par-4 18th.
Â
Eidhagen Harrouch carded a 77 in the second round. She had a good start with birdies at the par-4 third and par-5 eighth to approach the turn at 1-under. Eidhagen Harrouch dropped four strokes between the ninth and 10th and four more on the back before salvaging her 77 with a birdie on the par-4 17th and par on the 18th
Â
Freshman Sydney Givens is one stroke back of her teammates, tied for 48th at 10-over, 152, following a 77 in the second round. She was 1-over on the front, making eight pars with a lone bogey at the sixth. Givens ran into trouble early on the back dropping six strokes between the 11th and 15th before recording her lone birdie of the round at the 502-yard par-5 16th.
Â
Redshirt Vanessa Ngo is tied for 64th at 17-over, 159, after carding a 79 on Wednesday, one shot better than her first-round score. Sophomore Francesca Sumcad had a two-stroke improvement from Tuesday's first round, and is in 68th place at 24-over, 166.
Â
Houston's Natalie Saint Germain had the low round of the day with a 67 and is tied with Oklahoma State's Marta Silchenko and TCU's Camille Min-Gaultier for the individual lead at 2-under, 140.
Â
Colorado will once again pair with Texas Tech in Thursday's third round. The groups will begin off the No. 10 tee at 7:20 a.m. MT. Thursday's final round will feature live coverage on ESPN+ from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. MT.
