Buffaloes Add Two For 2026-27
November 12, 2025 | Women's Golf
BOULDER — Araxy Kirokian and Isabella Piazza have signed their Financial Aid Agreements to continue their educations and join the Buffaloes' women's golf team for the 2026-27 season.
"We are excited to sign Araxy and Izzy," Colorado head coach Madeleine Sheils said. "Their combined years of high-level competitive experience and their desire to be the absolute best they can be are going to be the perfect fit for our program. We look forward to having them join us next season."
Araxy Kirokian, Lerma, Mexico (ICL Academy [Calif.])
Kirokian won the Girls 16-18 age division of the 2025 III Copa Gado in Morelia, Mexico, with a 54-hole score of 4-over-par. In all, she recorded top-five finishes in six tournaments during 2024 and '25. Kirokian tied for fourth in the Girls 15-18 age division of the 2024 FCG Callaway World Championships in Rancho Mirage, Calif., at 3-under, which included an opening round of 67. In August, she placed 10th at the Mexican Junior Golf Association Invitational by Vidanta.
Araxy Kirokian on signing with Colorado: "When I went to see the University, I really fell in love with the place. I felt like they had everything, and nothing is stopping me from reaching my full potential there. They have education, a whole complement for athletics and golf; it was just so amazing."
Araxy Kirokian on her game: "I'm putting pretty good and my driver off the tee is also pretty consistent, where I can put the ball where I want to and my putting around three yards, and my touch on the longer putts is really good right now. I think what I mostly have to work on is irons on the line, because I hit them solid, but I don't keep them close enough to get so many birdies. So when I do, I take the chance, but I need to find more opportunities for that, and also a bit around the green. I was talking about that with coach Maddie, and also visualizing, because it's something that is been hard for me, like visualizing where I want to land it and then actually do it, and then just go with the shots."
Coach Sheils: "I am thrilled to welcome Araxy into our program. She is a bright and mature young woman who is going to have a positive impact both on and off the course. She brings strong international experience, fantastic iron play, and the self-discipline and drive to compete with the best in college golf one day."
Isabella Piazza, Phoenix, Ariz. (Xavier College Preparatory)
Piazza comes to Colorado after playing for a high school dynasty in Xavier College Prep in Arizona, which just collected its 40th state championship in program history on Nov. 4. Piazza finished fourth at the state tournament with a 1-over-par 145 as the Gators won their third-straight state title. She tied for eighth at the 2024 Arizona Division I State Championship and was fifth as a sophomore in 2023. Piazza has recorded top 20 finishes in her last five junior events, including a sixth-place showing at the Arizona Junior Girls State Championship in June. She tied for 10th at the 2025 Roper Honda AJGA Junior Championship in Joplin, Mo., this past August.
Isabella Piazza on signing with Colorado: "Playing college golf is something I've been looking forward to ever since I was 5-years old. I always knew I wanted to play college golf, and Colorado has all the amazing resources to be successful. And on my visit, I fell in love with the campus. It's so beautiful, and coach Maddie (Sheils) and coach Mia (Landegren) are also amazing, and all the girls on the team are really nice."
Isabella Piazza on her game: "I'm really confident in my putting. I'm also really good, if I'm out of position, I can get myself right back into position and make par. I'm working on getting my driver to carry to over 250 (yards) and also a little straighter."
Coach Sheils: "Izzy is a really exciting addition to our roster. I love her athleticism, having had a lot of success as a young softball player before narrowing her focus to golf in high school. She brings great speed and an insatiable desire to succeed. She's been training at a high level in Arizona for a long time both on her own and with her three-time State Champion Xavier High School golf team. We can't wait to be a part of her development and watch her impact here in Boulder."
