Givens Breaks School Record, as Buffs complete day two in California

TORRANCE, Calif.; AZUSA, Calif. — Isaiah Givens etched his name into the record books on Friday, breaking the University of Colorado's outdoor 1,500-meter record with a time of 3:37.52 to headline the final day of action at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
Givens, competing in the elite section, shattered the previous program record of 3:38.09, set by Eduardo Herrera in 2021. The Buffs continued their momentum in the men's 1,500 meters as Drew Costelow ran 3:43.68, Chris Cherry clocked 3:45.78, and Ethan Edgeworth finished in 3:47.37. In the men's 800 meters, Will Houser recorded a time of 1:51.92.
On the women's side, Kati Bauerle posted a time of 4:14.51 in the elite section of the 1,500 meters. Jessie Secor followed in 4:17.38, while Emma Hadley ran 4:27.39 in the open section. In the 800 meters, Helen Carlson clocked 2:09.01 and Elliot Pribramsky crossed the line in 2:11.42.
At the Mt. SAC Relays in Torrance, CU sprinters and hurdlers recorded several season-best performances. Nylah Perry led the way in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.10, followed by Abby Miller at 1:00.73 and Aubrey Leneweaver in 1:01.32. Myla Wilkes posted a time of 23.80 in the 200 meters.
On the men's side, AJ Glavicic paced the Buffs in the 400 meters with a time of 47.67, while Luke Dry (48.21) and Nick Gehring (48.76) rounded out a solid trio. The 4x400-meter relay team ran 3:11.36, placing third overall in the collegiate division.
The discus group continued to progress with three athletes over 40 meters: Elena Opp (41.88m), Ayianna Johnson (41.22m), and Amanda Opp (40.48m).
The Buffaloes will wrap up the weekend with competition Saturday at the Mt. Sac Relays
