Buffs Move Up To Eighth At Silverado
April 08, 2025 | Women's Golf
NAPA, Calif. - Colorado women's golf is in eighth place after the second round of the 2025 Chevron Silverado Showdown.
Â
The Buffaloes, tournament co-hosts along with Oregon, shot 6-over-par, 292 in Tuesday's second round, moving up one spot in the standings and into the top half of the field which features eight of the top 50 teams in the country. Through 36 holes, Colorado is at 16-over, 592, only four shots out of the top 5 with 18 holes to play on Wednesday at the Silverado Resort & Spa South Course.
Â
No. 4 Southern California leads the way at even-par, 576, as the top four teams gained a slight separation from the rest of the field. No. 37 Iowa State is one stroke back at 1-over followed by No. 10 Northwestern (+2) and No. 36 California (+7). CSU Fullerton is fifth at 12-over.
Â
Junior Morgan Miller is tied for ninth place at 1-under after a round of 71 on Tuesday. Senior Maria Eidhagen Harrouch and sophomore Francesca Sumcad both shot 1-over 73 in the second round. Sumcad is tied for 30th overall at 4-over while Eidhagen Harrouch is tied for 37th at 6-over.
Â
"I thought the team put a great round together today," Colorado head coach Madeleine Sheils said. "They played with a lot of composure and were steady from the start to finish."
Â
Colorado's best round of the day came from redshirt freshman Vanessa Ngo. Playing as an individual, Ngo shot 70 and is tied for sixth overall at 2-under, just four shots off the lead.
Â
Ngo was 1-under through her first four holes but dropped back into the black with three-straight bogeys between the fifth and seventh. She rallied nicely from there, getting back to 1-over with a birdie at the ninth. Ngo was flawless on the back nine with three birdies and six pars.
Â
"It was great to see Vanessa play the great golf we know she is capable of," Sheils said.
Â
Freshman Sydney Givens is tied for 54th overall at 9-over. Classmate Ellen O'Shaughnessy is tied for 58th at 10-over after a second consecutive round of 77.
Â
Sophomore Carolyn Fuller, playing as an individual, is tied for 34th at 5-over after a round of 77 on Tuesday.
Â
"We've poured a lot of time into improving our putting since spring break and we are starting to see the results pay off," Sheils said. "I think our lag putting has done a 180 since playing in Texas two weeks ago. That alone is helping us compete better already. Tomorrow, we're going to focus on one shot at a time."
Â
Wednesday's final round will begin at 9:30 a.m. MT with a shotgun start. Colorado will pair with CSU Fullerton, Arizona and Oregon between the fifth and ninth holes.
