Colorado-Stanford To Play In Hall Of Fame Series Phoenix

BOULDER – Colorado will face off with former Pac-12 Conference rival Stanford as part of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Series Phoenix, Saturday, Dec. 20, at the PHX Arena.
Stanford was 21-14 in 2024-25, finishing seventh in its first year in the Atlantic Coast Conference with an 11-9 record. Under the guidance of head coach Kyle Smith, the Cardinal advanced to the second round of the Postseason NIT.
"We are looking forward to participating in the Phoenix Hall of Fame series and facing a quality opponent in Stanford," Colorado head coach Tad Boyle said. "Playing Stanford in late December will help us prepare for our Big 12 Conference schedule. Our staff is familiar with coach Smith and the fantastic job he did at Washington State while we were in the Pac-12, and we know he has Stanford trending in an upward direction. It will be a great test for both programs."
Colorado holds a 20-11 series lead against Stanford, including wins in the last seven meetings. The teams were conference rivals in the Pac-12 from 2011-24 with the Buffaloes owning a 17-4 mark in those contests. Stanford is 2-0 in neutral court meetings, the first coming in the 1942 NCAA Final Four, a 46-35 Cardinal victory. The second was a 75-69 Stanford win in Kansas City on Dec. 29, 1951, during the Big Seven Christmas Tournament.
The Colorado-Stanford contest is one of two Hall of Fame Phoenix Series matchups. Arizona will face off against San Diego State on the same day at PHX Arena.
