Kansas State transfer Kenzi Gillispie and incoming freshman Lilian Zamorano added to the 2025 roster
BOULDER – Colorado soccer solidified its 2025 roster with the additions of transfer Kenzi Gillispie and incoming freshman Lilian Zamorano, the program announced on Tuesday.
Gillispie comes to Boulder having spent four seasons at Kansas State. Zamorano joins the Buffaloes as an international signee, hailing from Cologne, Germany.
Gillespie, a 5-6 defender, finished her K-State career ranked seventh in school history, appearing in 63 career matches and second in KSU history with her 62 career starts. The Newton, Kan., native became the third player in Wildcats' history to play 5,000 or more career minutes and owns the K-State school record for minutes played in a season, totaling 1,666 in 2022.
Last season, Gillespie started seven matches and played in eight for the Wildcats before suffering a season-ending injury against Colorado. She assisted on one goal in 2024 and finished her career with three career assists. Gillespie started a career-high 19 matches in 2022.
"Kenzi is a great addition to our 2025 squad," head coach Danny Sanchez expressed. "She has tremendous experience as a three-year starter in the Big 12 Conference. With us losing numerous backs to graduation after last season, Kenzi has the opportunity to come in and make a real impact."
Zamorano, a 5-7 defender, joins the Buffs from VfL Wolfsburg II out of the 2nd Women's Bundesliga. She's spent the past three seasons with Wolfsburg. Zamorano made 19 starts and played in 20 matches in the 2022-23 season, totaling 1,644 minutes. She was invited to Germany's U17 National Team training camp in 2021. Zamorano graduated from Gymnasium Rodenkirchen in 2024 and earned finals appearances in the Football Association of the Middle Rhine and Lower Saxony Football Association. She's a two-time Snow Cup champion and a two-time B-Junior champion. Zamorano also won the District Cologne Cup and the C-Junior German Futsal Championship.
"Lilian is a very experienced player playing with VFL Wolfsburg II in Bundesliga 2," Sanchez noted. "She can play anywhere along the backline or in a deep-lying spot in the midfield. We are excited that Lilian will be joining us this summer."
Zamorano becomes the third-ever Buff to hail from Germany, joining Jenny Beyer (2020-24) and Hannah Scheid (2016-17).
The Buffaloes will reassemble in late July to begin preparations for the 2025 season.
