2025 Fall Semester GPA

Buffaloes Enjoy Record-Setting Academic Fall

January 08, 2026 | General, Herbst Academic Center

BOULDER – University of Colorado student-athletes achieved another major milestone in the classroom, earning the highest Fall semester GPA in team history this last term with a 3.296 combined mark for 317 Buffaloes.

The Fall 2025 term marked the third consecutive semester in which Colorado student-athletes posted at least a 3.2, with this go-around topping the previous Fall best of 3.287 in 2024. A broader trend of academic excellence continued, with the Buffaloes posting their 12th consecutive semester with at least a 3.0. Colorado has registered at least a 3.1 department-wide in 10 of the past 12 semesters.

"CU student-athletes have an established history of excellence in the classroom, and I'm so thrilled to see it up close in my very first week on the job," said Fernando Lovo, Director of Athletics. "Congratulations to Jed Herb and his incredible team at the Herbst Academic Center and I'm so proud of our student-athletes for their continued dedication to academic performance."

"A 3.2 combined GPA at CU, an institution with high academic standards, is a tremendous feat," said Rick George, Athletic Director Emeritus. "CU student-athletes continue to raise the bar, and their commitment to academics sets the standard for our entire university.  My thanks to Jed,  everyone at the Herbst Academic Center, and in particular our coaches, for their unwavering dedication to our student-athletes."

Those figures contribute to Colorado's overall student-athlete cumulative GPA to a resounding 3.274. All 15 varsity programs have a cumulative GPA above 3.0, with 12 at 3.2 or higher. Colorado's cross country and track and field programs are combined in these academic numbers because they share the same team members.

For the Fall semester, 14 of 15 teams posted GPAs above a 3.0 and 12 soared beyond 3.2.

Four programs recorded their highest semester GPAs in team history, led by women's skiing at 3.753, representing the high mark for the Buffaloes this past fall. Women's track and field had their best semester at 3.619, men's golf registered a 3.204 and soccer had their highest mark for any term at 3.553.

Ten Colorado programs are riding consecutive terms above a 3.0 well into double digits. It was the 49th-straight 3.0 for women's skiing and 28th over a 3.3. Men's skiing and women's golf both enjoyed their 31st straight semesters at 3.0 or better, with both programs going on at least 15 straight terms at 3.2 or higher.
