BOULDER - Colorado collected three rushing touchdowns and huge running plays in a 27-24 overtime Halloween win against Kansas State.Â
"The run attack was truly vital," Sanders said. "It took a lot of pressure off of Isaac [Wilson]."
CU recorded its most rushing yards in a game this season and in the "Coach Prime" Era with 222.
In his first start as a Buffalo, Richard Young collected 120 yards on 24 carries. The three-star transfer from Alabama also boasted two touchdowns, his first scores as a Buff.Â
"He's waited patiently," Head Coach Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders said. "I wanted him to have a chance to run the ball today and he proved that he could and will no matter what."
Young's first score was a 2-yard run with 1:44 remaining in the first quarter. Young found the end zone again with 12:33 left in the fourth quarter when he danced along the left sideline for 22 yards, his longest run of the season.Â
In their overtime drive, Young continued to push the Buffaloes forward, carrying the ball 14 yards on three plays before the final score.Â
Colorado added a third-quarter touchdown on a carry by JaQuail Smith, who dodged K-State's defensive line and took off down the left sideline for a 47-yard touchdown, his longest career rush. Smith accounted for 63 yards in eight carries.Â
DeKaylon Taylor and Damian Henderson II added 30 and 14 yards, respectively, to round out the season-high rushing performance for the Buffaloes.Â
