No. 25 Colorado Seeks Fourth Straight Win While Hosting BYU

BOULDER — No. 25 Colorado volleyball looks to carry momentum off two wins from the weekend into a top-25 matchup against No. 8 BYU on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the CU Events Center.

The Buffaloes took down Cincinnati in five sets before they swept Texas Tech. Colorado outscored the Red Raiders 25-12 in the third set. It is the largest margin of victory in a set since a 25-9 fourth-set win against the University of Northern Colorado on Sept. 6.

Middle blocker Cayla Payne led the team with six blocks, while adding 10 kills to contribute 14 points. Pin attacker Ana Burilovic recorded her seventh double-double during the match with 13 kills and 12 digs.

The Buffaloes are on a three-match win streak, their first since falling to Colorado State on Sept. 18.

Setter Jenna Ylivainio recorded 31 assists in Colorado's three-set match against Texas Tech, marking her 18th match this season with 30 or more assists. She is fifth in the Big 12 in assists per set (9.61). She leads the conference in total assists with 769.
Burilovic is fifth in the Big 12 in points per set (4.76) and seventh in kills per set (4.16).
Payne is second in the Big 12 in blocks per set with 1.35.

In the match, BYU's middle blocker Brooke Hardy recorded a career-high 11 kills alongside a .786 hitting percentage. She leads the Big 12 in hitting percentage at .427. Defensively, Kelli Jo Burgess led the team with nine blocks against CU. She is first in the Big 12 in blocks per set, averaging 1.86.

The Cougars are currently undefeated in the Big 12, most recently defeating Utah in four sets. BYU leads the Big 12 in hitting percentage (.302), opponent digs (10.84) and opponent service aces (0.81). They rank third in the conference for points (18.25), assists (12.96) and kills (13.96). The Cougars are led by head coach Rob Neilson, who is in his first year with BYU, his sixth as a head coach.
