LIVINGNO, Italy -- Former Colorado student-athlete Stacy Gaskill turned in a strong performance in her second Olympic appearance Thursday, advancing to the quarterfinal round of the women's snowboard cross at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
Gaskill opened the day with an impressive showing in seeding, finishing 13th with a time of 1:14.60. Her run was the fastest among the four American competitors and placed her directly into the elimination rounds without needing a second seeding run.
In the knockout stage, Gaskill competed in 1/8 Final 4, where she finished second to advance. It was one of the closest heats of the round, as she crossed the line just .04 seconds behind the winner and only .11 seconds ahead of third place to secure her spot in the quarterfinals.
She was placed into Quarterfinal 2 alongside a U.S. teammate and remained in the top two for much of the race before a tightly contested finish. Gaskill ultimately placed fourth, with all four riders finishing within .41 seconds of each other, ending her competition.
Gray Races in Super-G
Also in alpine action Thursday, former Buff Cass Gray competed in the women's Super-G but did not finish the course. The race marked her third event of a busy Olympic schedule.
Gray's top event, the giant slalom, is still ahead on Sunday.
