Jakob Moch Youngest Competitor In Top 40 Of 50K Race

LIVIGNO & TESERO, Italy - The final weekend of competition brought strong performances and a determined finish as Colorado athletes wrapped up action at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.

Alev Caps Games With Top-15 in 50K

Former Buff Alvar Alev delivered one of Colorado's top results of the Games, finishing 15th in the men's 50K classic mass start on Friday.

In the grueling race of more than 32 miles, Alev crossed the line just over eight minutes behind Norway's Johannes Klæbo, who won his sixth gold medal of the Games with a time under two hours and 15 minutes.

Colorado freshman Jakob Moch also competed, finishing 36th in 2:23:44.8, exactly 17 minutes behind Klæbo. Among competitors born after 2002, Moch ranked second, an encouraging result as he prepares to return to Boulder this week for the Buffaloes' postseason push.

Irving Shows Grit in Halfpipe Final

CU alum Svea Irving competed in the women's freestyle halfpipe final Sunday after qualifying eighth earlier in the week.

The final, originally scheduled for Saturday, was postponed due to weather. On her first run, Irving took a hard fall and injured her ribs. She was unable to take her second run but returned for her third attempt, landing the same trick where she had fallen before.

Irving was unable to complete the remainder of the run and later shared that medical evaluation revealed a separated rib along with bruising. She also confirmed that her lungs were clear following the injury on her Instagram story.

Buffs Conclude Olympic Run

The events marked the conclusion of Olympic competition for the eight current and former Colorado athletes who competed at the 2026 Winter Games, representing multiple nations across alpine skiing, cross country, biathlon, snowboard and freestyle skiing.
