BOULDER – The Colorado women's basketball team has signed transfer rising junior guard Brooke Walker (Andover, Kan./Andover HS) from Utah, head coach JR Payne announced Tuesday, April 14.
Walker played in 27 games for the Utes in the 2025-26 season, seeing 17 starts and averaging 21.8 minutes, 5.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 0.9 steals per game. She had double-digit points twice in the 2025-26 season and shot 42.7% from the field overall. Walker also shot 60% or more six times, 50% or more 13 times, and 40% or more 16 times.
"Brooke is a great fit for how we want to play," head coach JR Payne said. "She thrives in an up-tempo system, makes great decisions with the ball, and has the ability to create in the open floor. Her athleticism and aggressive mindset on both offense and defense will allow her to make an immediate impact."
In the 2025-26 campaign, Walker set a career-high with 12 points at Utah State (Nov. 11), and she grabbed a career-high eight rebounds at Montana (Nov. 29). Walker also spent her freshman season at Utah, playing in 30 games and averaging 10.4 minutes per game. She made her collegiate debut in the Utes' 2024-25 season opener versus Southern Utah (Nov. 4), where she put up three points and played 20 minutes. She also scored a season-high seven points twice that year – first against McNeese (Nov. 18) and later vs. Houston (Jan. 11).
A three-year basketball letter winner out of Andover High School, Walker was selected to the Kansas All-State 5A First Team twice (2022, 2023) and received All-State 5A honorable mention in 2021. She was a Kansas Girls 5A Player of the Year Finalist in 2022 and 2023, and she reached 1,000 career points in her junior high school season. Against Emporia in the high school state tournament, she managed 26 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals to advance to the next round.
Amidst the transfer portal season, Colorado has also announced a number of returning Buffs, a list that so far includes Zyanna Walker, Jade Crook, Kennedy Sanders, Maeve McErlane, Sophie Zadel, and Claire O'Connor.
