Colorado Qualifies 10 Athletes for NCAA West First Rounds

BOULDER — Colorado qualified 10 Buffs across six events for the 2026 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field West First Rounds, set for Wednesday, May 27 through Saturday, May 30 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
The NCAA West First Rounds serve as the preliminary qualifying meet for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon, with the top 12 finishers in each event advancing to nationals.
Competition will take place at John McDonnell Field on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
Colorado Qualifiers
Women
- Avery Pearson — 800m
- Abbey Nechanicky — 10k
- Ashley Jones — 10k
- Hannah Prosser — 10k
Men
- Kole Mathison — 3k steeplechase
- Tanner Newkirk — 5k
- James Overberg — 10k
- Dean Casey — 10k
- Danny Tragarz — 400m hurdles
- Gustavo Alfonso — javelin
The men's competition will be held Wednesday and Friday, while the women's events are scheduled for Thursday and Saturday.
