Buffs To Face Purdue At Indy Classic

July 16, 2026 | Men's Basketball

BOULDER – Colorado men's basketball will take on reigning Big Ten Conference Tournament Champion Purdue at the Indy Classic, Saturday, Dec. 19, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

In its fifth season, the Indy Classic brings together four nationally recognized programs to downtown Indianapolis for a marquee non-conference college basketball showcase. In addition to the Buffs and Boilermakers, Georgia Tech, out of the ACC, will face Butler, from the Big East.

Ticket information, game times and television details will be announced at a later date.

Purdue was 30-9 overall in 2025-26, tying for sixth in the Big Ten regular season standings at 13-7, before embarking on an impressive run to the conference tournament championship and the NCAA Elite Eight. The Boilermakers finished No. 6 in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll while coming in at No 7 in the USA Today Sports Coaches poll.

Colorado was 17-16 last season, tying for 11th in the Big 12 regular season standings before making its second-straight College Basketball Crown appearance. The Buffaloes return to Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the first time since the 2024 NCAA Tournament, where KJ Simpson's last-second shot helped propel No. 10 seed Colorado to a memorable 102-100 win over seventh-seeded Florida in the first round, before dropping a hard-fought 81-77 decision to No. 2 Marquette in the second round.

Colorado and Purdue will meet for just the third time overall, and the first time in 38 years.  The Boilermakers won the inaugural meeting on Dec. 7, 1987, a 72-54 home win in West Lafayette, Ind. Colorado got revenge the next season, edging Purdue 67-66 on Dec. 4, 1988, at McNichols Arena in Denver, part of the Mile High Classic.

This season's meeting will feature a sibling connection. Purdue junior center Daniel Jacobsen is the older brother of Colorado incoming freshman Eric Jacobsen.
