CU Athletics Launches “Charged Up” Student Loyalty Program

July 06, 2026 | General

New Program Will Provide Students Enhanced Access to Home Football, Men’s Basketball Games and Other Rewards

Boulder, Colo. – Colorado Athletics, in conjunction with the University of Colorado Boulder Division of Student Life, are launching a new student loyalty program for the 2026-27 academic year. The "Charged Up" program will give students the opportunity to collect points for improved access to home football and men's basketball games and other assorted experiences and rewards.

Starting Thursday, July 9 at 10 a.m., eligible undergraduate students enrolled in a minimum of four hours of classes for the fall 2026 term can purchase a CU Athletics Sports Pass for $265. Separately, beginning Tuesday, August 5, students can sign up for Charged Up and start earning points at every sporting event they attend.

"Students are the lifeblood of our events and our student-athletes feed off the incredible energy our students bring to every game," said CU Director of Athletics Fernando Lovo. "After receiving a lot of feedback from students about how we can improve the student sports pass process, we are excited to launch this new program that will engage our students like never before."

For this initial year of the program, points are first allocated based on a student's class year and number of credit hours completed, with those who have completed more classes receiving more points to start the year. Class year point allocations will be added in late August to ensure inclusion of all summer classes completed. After that, students can earn points by attending any CU Athletics event, including football, soccer, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, lacrosse, tennis, and track and field.  Importantly, students are not required to have a sports pass to start earning points. The Charged Up rewards program is open to all eligible undergraduate students and student attendance at soccer, volleyball, women's basketball, tennis, and track and field is still free of charge. Additional bonus points are awarded to students who arrive early and stay until the end.

Also new this year, every student who purchases a sports pass will receive a special Nike Dri-FIT "Gold Rush" student section t-shirt, which will be unveiled on Tuesday, July 7. This will be the inaugural design in a new collectible tradition, with a fresh look each year. Student sports pass holders receive access to claim tickets for home football games and home men's basketball games. Those who want early access to the ticket claim process each week can also add on a Buff Club student membership for $125. Those who are not able to purchase student sport passes on July 9 will have a second opportunity on Wednesday, August 19.
