Buffs Announce Nonconference Schedule

BOULDER – The University of Colorado men's basketball team will play nine games at home during the nonconference portion of its 2026-27 schedule, head coach Tad Boyle announced on Thursday.
The bulk of Colorado's home nonconference schedule comes in the month of December. The Buffaloes will play four of their first seven contests away from the CU Events Center before finishing the nonconference schedule with six of seven at home.
The Buffaloes open the 2026-27 season with a first-time meeting against Abilene Christian on Monday, Nov. 2, at the CU Events Center. Colorado's November home slate also features a pair of programs from the West Coast Conference, as the Buffaloes host San Diego on Tuesday, Nov. 10, and Portland on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
Surrounding the first three home games are four challenging away contests that will help the Buffaloes prepare for Big 12 Conference play. Following the opener, Colorado heads to San Diego for the previously announced Bill Walton Classic on Saturday, Nov. 7, against San Diego State at the historical Pechanga Arena.
Colorado completes its home-and-home series with Providence one week later, Saturday, Nov. 14, in Providence, R.I., in between the home games against San Diego and Portland.
For the second-straight year, the Buffaloes travel to Palm Desert, Calif., for the Acrisure Series, Thanksgiving week. Colorado will play Stanford on Tuesday, Nov. 24, and then either Saint Louis or Grand Canyon on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
December heats up with four straight at home, highlighted by the hardwood edition of the Rocky Mountain Showdown on Saturday, Dec. 5, against Colorado State. The Buffaloes host UTEP to begin that run on Tuesday, Dec. 1, and follow the game against the Rams with Central Arkansas on Saturday, Dec. 12, and Cal Poly on Wednesday, Dec. 15.
Colorado's biggest nonconference challenge follows that four-game homestand with the previously announced Indy Classic against reigning Big Ten Conference Tournament champion Purdue as part of the Indy Classic on Saturday, Dec. 19, at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The Buffaloes will finish preparations for the Big 12 season with a pair of Holiday season home games against North Dakota on Tuesday, Dec. 22, and a week later against in-state rival Denver on Tuesday, Dec. 29.
The Big 12 schedule, times and television for all games will be announced at a later date.
