Colorado Cross Country Wins Roadrunners Invitational

DENVER — The Colorado cross country team swept the Roadrunners Invitational on Saturday morning at Washington Park, hosted by MSU Denver, as the No. 6 men's and No. 18 women's teams both took first place.
The men competed in the 8K, while the women competed in the 6K.Â
The men's team raced as a pack, taking 1st-5th place and totaling a perfect score (15). In his collegiate debut, Meshack Kipruto led the charge with a time of 24 minutes.
Seconds behind the lead was Stephen Ndungu, who crossed the finish line at 24 minutes, 2 seconds. Lukas Haug, Peter Bii and Tanner Newkirk completed the sweep.Â
Adrianna Buitelaar took first place in her collegiate debut with Abbey Mathison (Nechanicky), Holly Barker and Emma Hoffman close behind.Â
The women's team also recorded 15 total points.
"Great day for our men and women," Head Coach Sean Carlson said. "They competed together and built great momentum for the large races later in the season."Â
UP NEXT: Cross country will travel to Madison, Wis. for the Nuttycombe Invitational on Oct. 9.Â
