Joseph Williams Posts Career Day Despite Loss to Baylor

WACO, Texas – Colorado wide receiver Joseph Williams delivered a standout performance in the Buffaloes' 23-13 loss to Baylor on Saturday at McLane Stadium.Â
Williams' 11 receptions were the most in his career and tied for ninth-most in CU history in a single game. This marked the first time a Buffalo had 11 catches in a game since Travis Hunter did so against TCU on Sept. 2, 2023.
"Joseph's been a dawg," head coach Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders said after the game. "He he wants to be that guy, and he is that guy right now."
Williams recorded 127 yards and caught one touchdown from quarterback Isaac Wilson in the fourth quarter. He also recorded 49 passing yards in a trick-play pass to Quanell Farrakhan Jr.
Williams joined several lists, the players that have caught 11 or more passes in a game include an impressive array of players including Travis Hunter, Michael Westbrook, Charles E. Johnson, Paul Richardson, Laviska Shenault Jr., Nelson Spruce, Scotty McKnight, LaJohntay Wester, Jimmy Horn Jr., and more.Â
He became the just the third player in CU history to have a 100-yard receiving game and complete a pass alongside Richardson and Bryce Bobo, and he's just the second player to catch 10 or more passes in a game and complete a pass, also alongside Bobo. Â He is the first player in CU history to catch 11 or more passes and also complete a pass in a game.Â
Farrakhan also had a big game, recording 117 yards on seven receptions, marking the second time two CU players recorded over 100 yards receiving this season.
The receivers' standout performances came after wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. left the game with an injury in the first half, forcing Williams and Farrakhan to step up for the Buffaloes.
Despite the impressive individual offensive performances, there was an overall sense of disappointment among the Buffaloes following the loss.Â
"I don't look for silver linings, man. I look for W's," Sanders said. "I'm not built like that to find a silver lining. Why don't we just go ahead and get the gold? We forget the silver. That's what we're trying to get."
