Former Buff Standout KJ Simpson Returns To Boulder
BOULDER – The University of Colorado will host an NBA preseason game between the Denver Nuggets and Utah Jazz on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 5 p.m., at the CU Events Center.
The NBA exhibition will bring former Colorado standout KJ Simpson back to Boulder. Simpson starred for the Buffaloes from 2021-24, earning a pair of All-Pac-12 Conference honors and guiding Colorado to a memorable run in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
Originally drafted by Charlotte in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft, Simpson joined the Nuggets on a two-way contract midway through the 2025-26 season. Simpson has appeared in 56 NBA games, with 17 starts, over two seasons, averaging 6.7 points, 2.8 assists and 2.6 rebounds per contest.
It will mark the fourth time the Nuggets have traveled up US36 for preseason action and the first since 2015 when Denver met the Chicago Bulls on the Russell "Sox" Walseth Court. Colorado hosted the Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers for preseason games in 2007 and 2014.
The game in Boulder tips off the Nuggets' five-game preseason schedule. Denver will head to Salt Lake City for another matchup with the Jazz on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Denver returns to Ball Arena on Sunday, Oct. 11, to host Chicago. The Nuggets then travel to Los Angeles to face the Clippers on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Intuit Dome and finish their preseason schedule against the Lakers at Crypto Arena on Friday, Oct. 16.
Tickets for the Nuggets-Jazz preseason game at CU Events Center will go on sale to the general public on Thursday, Sept. 10.
