AT COLORADO: This Season (Jr.)?Enters the fall listed second at right defensive end. He has slimmed down some 20 pounds from his playing weight in the Independence Bowl (265), and it appears to have made him quicker off the snap as he was moved outside to end from tackle. He had two quarterback sacks in main spring scrimmage action.

2007 (Soph.)?He saw action in 11 games (no starts), playing 90 snaps from scrimmage. He did not make any tackles. He played the position 10 pounds heavier than he was as a freshman after the off-season strength conditioning regimen.

2006 (Fr.)?He saw action in 10 games (no starts), missing the final two games of the season due to a concussion. He was in for 64 snaps from scrimmage, with three tackles (two solo).

HIGH SCHOOL?A SuperPrep All-Far West team member, ranked as the No. 14 prospect in the state of Washington and as the second defensive lineman, with PrepStar selecting him to its All-West squad. Rivals.com ranked him as the No. 51 defensive end in the nation (and the No. 10 recruit in Washington) following his senior year, when he earned first-team all-South Puget Sound League and Tacoma News-Tribune all-area honors as well as honorable mention all-state accolades. Others referred to him as the top defensive end in the Pacific Northwest, despite playing most of his senior season with a torn rotator cuff. As a senior, he totaled 47 tackles, including a league-best 14 for losses with seven quarterback sacks, two forced fumbles and two recoveries, while also starting at tackle on offense. As a junior, he was an honorable mention all-state selection and a first-team all-area performer, recording 56 tackles, with 18 for losses including eight sacks. He was an honorable mention all-league performer as a sophomore. His top game as a senior came against Emerald Ridge, as he recorded eight tackles, including two for losses and two quarterback sacks. Under coach John Robak, Spanaway was 6-5 his senior year, losing in the second round of the state playoffs, and was 5-5 his junior and sophomore seasons. He also lettered in wrestling and track.

ACADEMICS?He is undecided on his major at Colorado. He owned a 2.9 grade point average in high school.

PERSONAL?Born December 14, 1987 in Colorado Springs, Colo. His hobbies include working out, spending time with his friends and playing video games. His family lived in Colorado Springs until he was in the fourth grade.
