2010-11 (Senior): Blythe emerged as the team's defensive stopper in 2010-11 and once her niche was found, the rest of her game fell soundly into place. She started 32 of 34 games, including the final 19 games of the season, a span in which she averaged just under 30 minutes per game. Named the team's Defensive MVP at the team's postseason banquet, she ranked second on the team in total minutes with 940. Blythe averaged four points and 1.3 rebounds per game and was third on the team in 3-point field goals made with 35. She improved from downtown as the season moved into conference play. Blythe made 19 of her season's 35 3-pointers during Big 12 action and her 39.6 percent accuracy ranked eighth on the league charts during that span. Including the postseason WNIT run, she made 21 of her final 51 3-point attempts (.412). She scored a career-high 15 points in the season-opening win over Regis (11/12), also connecting on a personal-best five 3-point field goals. Her biggest 3-pointer of the season however came in a crucial win at Missouri (2/26). In a game CU needed to win for postseason eligibility, she hit the go-ahead 3-pointer that gave the Buffaloes a 61-59 lead with 14.1 seconds remaining in the game. Not only was she routinely matched up against some of the nation's best back-court players, she was among the Big 12's best in protecting the ball, leading the conference in lowest turnover average over a 40-minute game (1.49) and ranking sixth for overall turnovers per game (1.03).
2009-10 (Junior): Blythe played in 10 games as a junior, averaging just under three minutes per contest. Her most action came in the month of December, as she played in five of six contests, including a three-game stretch against Southern Utah (12/19), San Jose State (12/22) and Grambling State (12/30). Played a season-high nine minutes against Grambling State, grabbing one rebound and dishing out one assist. Participated in four Big 12 games, logging a rebound at Baylor (2/6).
2008-09 (Sophomore): Blythe played in 27 games and started at point guard in 15 straight contests spanning the last half of the nonconference schedule and the beginning of the Big 12 Conference season. She averaged 2.1 points and 1.3 assists per game and collected 11 steals. Blythe played her best basketball during the ultra competitive Big 12 schedule, scoring 36 of her season's 57 points during the conference regular season. She had a career night in the league opener against No. 6 (AP)/5 (WBCA) ranked Baylor scoring a personal best 12 points on 4-of-6 from the field - all from 3-point range. She made her first four 3-point attempts against the Bears after making just 1-of-12 from downtown prior to the Baylor game.
2007-08 (Freshman): Played in 21 games as a first-year Buffalo, averaging just under two points per game. Had a memorable collegiate debut by scoring 11 points and adding two assists and two steals at San Francisco, about five miles where she played in high school at St. Ignatius Prep. She was a perfect 4-of-4 from the line in that game and made a solid 70.6 percent of her free throws on the season (12-of-17). Played a key role in Colorado's 59-41 win over Kansas (1/22) scoring eight points on 3-of-6 from the field with a personal best three rebounds and two assists. She also had three rebounds and two assists at Colorado State (12/1).
High School: Blythe is a 2007 graduate of St. Ignatius College Preparatory School in San Francisco where she was a four-year letterwinner for the Wildcats averaging 10 points, eight assists and two rebounds per game. She missed most of her senior season with an injury, but had an outstanding prep career. She was a two-time Street & Smith All-American and a two-time All-West Catholic Athletic League second team selection. In 2006, she was named to the Cal-Hi Sports Junior All-State second team. She helped the Wildcats claim back-to-back CIF Central Coast Section Division III titles. The 2006 squad finished 26-8 overall advancing to the CIF Division III State semifinals while to 2005 team was 21-10, reaching the state quarterfinals. Rated as the 94th overall player and 23rd best point guard by the 2006 All-Star Girls Report, Blythe was an adidas Top Ten Camp Underclass All-Star in 2004.
Academics: Blythe will graduate with her bachelor's degree in international affairs in May 2011. She is a member of the Big 12 honor roll.
Personal: Britney Marguerite Blythe was born on April 28, 1989, in San Francisco. She is the daughter of Donovan and Marguerite Blythe. Her father played basketball at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Blythe aspires to be a business woman. She enjoys drawing, playing basketball, singing and dancing with her friends. She is fluent in Spanish.
