Skylar Rubalcaba

Skylar Rubalcaba is in his first year as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach working primarily with Soccer, Women’s Golf, and Nordic Ski. He also assists with the Spirit and Ralphie programs. Rubalcaba returns to Colorado after serving as a volunteer during the 2015-2016 school year.
Rubalcaba came to CU from Marcos de Niza High School, where he worked for two and a half years (2019-2021) as the Director of Strength and Conditioning. Before that, he was the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Portland State University (2016-2018) where he oversaw Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Women’s Soccer, and several other sports. While at PSU he was on the Viking staff that competed in the prestigious PK80 basketball tournament. He was also an Intern (2015) at EXOS and worked as Graduate Assistant for 2 years (2013-2015) at Ithaca College.
Rubalcaba graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2013 from Northern Arizona University and with a Master’s degree in Human Performance in 2016 from Ithaca College. While at Northern Arizona University he was a member of the Triathlon and Cycling programs competing in 4 National Championships and qualifying for 1 World Championship.
His certifications include NSCA-CSCS, USAW Level 2 ASPC, StrongFirst SFL/SFB, Precision Nutrition Level 1, and American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid.
A native of Kearny, AZ and graduate of Ray High School he lettered in Basketball and Baseball. His hobbies include cycling, golf, paddle boarding, and playing guitar.
