As a Senior in 2011

Valentine, one of four returning starters from the 2011 season, led the team with 818 assists on the season. Although her early season injury kept her out of seven matches, Valentine was able to put up impressive numbers for the season. She played and started in 23 matches. Towards the beginning of the season, Valentine recorded a notable .909 hitting percentage when she had 10 kills on 11 errorless attacks against UC Davis (8/26). She tied her career-high of 62 assists against Washington State (11/18). Valentine played in 85 sets for the Buffs. She recorded a total of 57 kills, 160 digs, and five service aces. She ranked ninth in the Pac-12 Conference individual statistics in assists with 9.62 assist per set. Valentine finished her career ranked seventh in CU's assists chart with 1,646 assists. She finished her career as a Buff with 105 kills on 295 attempts, 1646 assists, 324 digs, and 67 blocks (five solo, 62 assists).

As a Junior in 2010

Valentine made her first Colorado start in the season opener against Furman (8/27).  Valentine went on to play in all of Colorado's 26 matches and finish the season as the Buff's leading attacker, recording 8.77 assists per set and a .171 attack percentage.  Valentine recorded a career high 62 assists against Texas Tech (10/13) and had three double-double throughout the season. Valentine was named the Big 12 Conference Volleyball Newcomer of the Week after helping CU to a pair of wins against Kansas State and Kansas the week of September 20-26. She recorded 828 assists and 164 digs in 2010. Her 8.62 assists per set ranked ninth in the Big 12.

At George Washington

Valentine led the Colonials to a 21-12 overall record (8-7 Atlantic-10) in 2009. Valentine averaged 10.71 assists per set which was second in the conference, and helped GWU to a .211 hitting percentage. She was named the 2008 A-10 Rookie of the Year after averaging 9.39 assists per set. Valentine earned A-10 Rookie of the Week honors six times and was named the MVP of the GW invitational and the DC Challenge All-Tournament Team. She also serves as assistant coach for Metro American VBC, where she coached a 17 yr-old girls team.

High School 

As a first team All-Sunset League and All-Sea View League member at Edison High School, Valentine helped the Chargers to the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Championships. Valentine played for one of the most prestigious clubs in the national, TCA, and was coached by the club director and USA Developmental Coach of the Year in 2009, Neil Mason. Her club team, TCA-18 Third Degree Black, won the national championship for the 18 open division at the USA Volleyball junior Olympics in 2008.

Personal  

Alyssa Christine Valentine was born on June 11, 1990 in Orange County, Calif. She is the daughter of Michael and Kathy Valentine of Santa Ana, Calif. She has two older siblings, Mitchell and Carly. Valentine enjoys hiking, biking and really anything outdoors. 

Academics  

Valentine majored in neuroscience and finished with a GPA greater than 3.00. She was an honorable mention All-Academic Pac-12 selection in 2011.
