A three-year starter for Colorado, Nicole Carr enters her senior year with a chance to join the best all-around hitters in Buffaloes history. She has a solid chance to become the ninth member of CU’s 1,000 kill-1,000 dig club needing 254 kills and 124 digs. Carr is Colorado’s active leader in career digs (876) and is 13th on the school’s all-time list. She ranks 21st in career kills (746) and is 13th in career attacks (2,143).

As a Junior in 2004...

Carr led Colorado in digs for the second-straight season with 239 (2.52 dpg). She ranked second on the team in attacks with 732 and had 237 kills to rank third. She played in all 28 matches, starting in 27. Carr set personal bests in attacks (51) and points (22.5) and tied career-highs in kills (20) and blocks (4) against Texas Tech on Oct. 20. She had last registered 20 kills in a match as a freshman in 2002 against Texas-Arlington. Carr recorded a career-high .625 hitting percentage (16k-1e-24att) in the season-opening win over Denver. She totaled double-digits in digs in 13 of 28 matches this season and had seven double-doubles. Carr is CU’s active career leader in double-doubles with 26, a mark that ties her with Courtney Owens (1991-95) for 13th on the school's all-time list.

As a Sophomore in 2003...

She was one of three CU players to play in all 111 games and started 30 of 31 contests. The reason for her lone non-start is that she played the libero position at Missouri (10/22), which is not considered a “starter.” Carr emerged as CU’s top defensive player, recording the eighth-best, single-season dig total in team history with 388. She also ranked eighth in the Big 12 in digs (3.50 dpg) and her total was the third highest in team history by a sophomore. Carr had CU’s top five dig performances of 2003, including a personal-best 24 at home against Missouri (11/22). She earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors for her performance against Missouri (11/22) and at Texas (11/19) where she averaged 4.25 kills and 3.63 digs per game. Named MVP of the Denver Invitational, compiling 44 kills and 35 digs over three matches. Carr led the Buffs in attacks (889), was third in service aces (25) and fourth in kills (331) and points (379.5). She had a team-high 16 double-doubles and had double digits in digs in all but seven matches. In those seven matches, Carr had nine digs in four of them.

As a Freshman In 2002...

Carr responded to the challenge of having to step in right out of high school and played in every match for the Buffs, starting 22 of 30. She flew out of the gate quickly, and after an incredible game against Texas-Arlington (9/13) in which she became just the second freshman to record 20 or more kills (20) and digs (24) in the same match, she was honored with a Colorado PowerBar All-Tournament Team mention. In that match, she became just the sixth freshman to record 20 or more kills and the eighth to record 20 or more digs. She also recorded 20 digs against Kansas State (10/12) and recorded double-digits in digs a total of 12 times. She also had four matches with 10 or more kills and three double-doubles. She was second on the team in digs and digs per game and fourth in kills. Her season dig totals of 249 ranks eighth all time by CU freshmen and her 2.57 digs per game ranks seventh on the freshman charts. She also ranked high in terms of freshmen for assists (10th) and kills (11th).

High School...

Carr graduated from Wauwatosa East High School in Wauwatosa, Wis., after lettering four times in volleyball under head coach Joe Lynch. She led Wauwatosa East to at least the sectional semifinals each of her four years, while her freshman team lost in the state semifinals and her sophomore team lost in the state quarterfinals. As a sophomore, Carr was named second-team all-conference and honorable mention all-state. She earned first-team all-state, all-conference and all-area while being named Player of the Year for both her conference and area. As a senior she was named first-team All-American (one of 50 by Student Sports), as well as being named first-team all-state, all-conference and all-area. She was also named one of the Top 50 high school players by Volleyball Magazine, which listed her as the 37th-best player in the country on its Fab 50 list. The biggest moment of her high school career was her junior year when Wauwatosa East knocked off Wisconsin’s No. 1 ranked team en route to a final four finish at state. She was also a forward on East’s basketball team. She played club volleyball for the Milwaukee Sting Gold for eight years. Carr’s 15’s team earned a second place national finish while one of her 17’s teams won a national championship.

Personal...

Nicole Angela Carr was born May 7, 1984, in Milwaukee, and her parents are Terry and Cindy Carr. Her mom played collegiate volleyball at Concordia University and she has one brother, Christopher, 24. She chose CU because “The first time I saw Boulder I fell in love. The coaches are great and the team is awesome.” Her hobbies include photography and the arts.

Academics...

Carr is majoring in business administration and currently boasts the team's best overall GPA with an impressive 3.773 mark. She landed first team Academic All-Big 12 Conference honors as a sophomore, her first year eligible, and was once again honored by the league office with a first team selection in 2004. She has led the team in GPA in four out of six semesters on campus. Carr is a five-time Dean’s list member and member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll all six of her semesters in Boulder. She was a member of the National Honor Society as well as the French Honor Society in high school.
