Men's Hoops Tops Baylor, 95-88

BOULDER, Colo. - David Harrison scored a career-high 23 points and had 11 rebounds, leading Colorado to a 95-88 win over Baylor on Wednesday night.
Colorado (12-6, 3-4 Big 12) led 47-41 at halftime and built a 15-point lead with 6:27 remaining before Baylor, on the strength of 3-point shooting, trimmed the deficit to three points in the waning seconds.
The Bears (12-8, 2-5) have lost five of their last six games and 12 straight road games dating to last season.
Blair Wilson had 20 points and Stephane Pelle 15 for Colorado.
Wendell Greenleaf and Logan Kosmalski each had 23 points for Baylor.
Colorado outshot Baylor 52 percent to 44 percent and outrebounded the Bears 46-32. But Colorado hit only 18-of-27 free throws in the second half, keeping Baylor in contention.
In a first half of surges, Colorado used a 17-0 run to open up a 19-6 lead, and Baylor promptly countered with an 11-0 flurry. Colorado then scored the last 10 points of the half.
Harrison scored 12 points in the half, while Greenleaf had 19, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range.
The Buffaloes shot 61 percent in the half, hitting 8 of their first 10 shots to forge the early lead. Nick Mohr had five points and Harrison four in the 17-0 surge.
Baylor, which had missed eight straight shots, immediately hit five in a row, including Greenleaf's steal and layup and his 3-pointer, to cut the deficit to 19-17.
Greenleaf's 3-pointer put the Bears in front 41-37 with 3:13 left in the half, but Mohr's 3-pointer, Harrison's two baskets and Blair Wilson's 3-pointer gave Colorado a six-point halftime edge.
Colorado steadily padded its lead in the second half, going ahead 68-56 on Mookie Wright's 3-pointer with 11:18 left. Harrison's hook shot made it 75-62 with 8:13 to go.
D.J. Harrison's tipin gave Colorado its biggest lead, 80-65, with 6:27 remaining, but the Bears hit six 3-pointers down the stretch, including three by Kevin Henry.
John Lucas' 3-pointer made it 91-88 with 20 seconds left, but Michel Morandais and Wright then hit two free throws apiece.
