BUFFS SWEEP OREGON IN HOME OPENER

The Buffaloes improve to 7-2 overall while the Ducks drop to 2-5.
            
CU controlled the match offensively, hitting .323, netting 38 kills and only 16 errors on 99 attacks. Freshman Amber Nu'u had a solid outing recording seven kills on eight attacks for an .875 percentage, all of which are career highs. Junior Allison Barnes had similar numbers, with five kills on six attacks for an .833 percentage.
            
Senior Monique Gerlach led all players with 12 kills and hit .375. Allie Griffin had 11 kills, four blocks and hit .318. Sophomore Nicole Carr, who ranks third in the Big 12 in digs, had a match-high 13 defensive saves.
            
CU was able to establish leads early in games, avoiding the need to fight from behind. The Buffs never trailed in any of the three games after their 10th point had been scored.
           
'We did a good job tonight,' head coach Pi'i Aiu said. 'Offensively we played well, but we still need to pick it up a little defensively. We played with a lot of heart and spirit. We passed the ball a lot better tonight and I was pleased with that.'
