Men's Basketball Home Game With UC Davis Cancelled

December 21, 2006 | Men's Basketball

BOULDER ? The collegiate men's basketball game between the University of Colorado Buffaloes and the UC Davis Aggies originally scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 23 at 1 p.m. in Boulder, has been cancelled. The inclement weather in the Denver vicinity has caused severe travel difficulties - most notably the closure of Denver International Airport

The commercial flight UC-Davis was scheduled to take to Denver was cancelled Thursday afternoon.

CU athletic director Mike Bohn said Thursday night that in all probability the game will not be rescheduled this season.

”Due to the way our schedule plays out the remainder of the year, there really is not a good slot for a make-up game to be rescheduled.  The few opportunities that appear would force us to play three games in five days, and that's something that is contrary to our academic and student well-being.”

The UC Davis-Colorado game would have been the first meeting between the two teams.

Saturday's basketball game is one of several area sporting events halted by the recent blizzard, which dropped almost two feet of snow on the Denver metropolitan area. Wednesday's NBA contest between the Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns and Thursday's NHL game between the Colorado Avalanche and Calgary Flames also were postponed.

CU (3-6) will return to action Saturday, Dec. 30, 1 p.m. against the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs at the Coors Events Center.

With the cancellation of the CU/UC Davis game, the Buffaloes will be idle for 21 days in between opponents, their longest in school history. CU last played on Dec. 9.
