"I thought our guys battled. I can't question our toughness in a game like this. It was a 'rock 'em, sock 'em' game. It was a totally different game compared to yesterday's game which was a pick-up game, this was just a grind it out, 53-50 affair. We knew it was going to be hard to score and we came up a little bit short. But, our toughness, I like it. We were plus-one on the boards; any of those long rebounds that came to them, if they come to us, that's the difference in the game. 12 offensive rebounds (by George Washington) that's not good enough (defense). It's frustrating. I have to do a better job with our guys. We lost the game down the stretch there, we had a five point lead and we had four straight possessions where we turned it over and two of those possessions led to layups and got them back in the game. We have to take better care of the ball. They went to that 1-3-1 zone, and we handled it right away pretty good, but it dares you to make plays. The 1-3-1 zone takes you out of your normal offense and you've got to be able to make plays. I thought we had the ball in the right spots, we just didn't turn it into plays. It might be a turnover here, or a turnover there, but if those turn into points instead that can be in the difference in the game. Taking care of the basketball and getting rebounds were keys to this game that we didn't do down the stretch and they did."

On Josh Scott
"He had to battle, you look at what he did against [GWU F Kevin] Larson, who had 19 (points) and 15 (rebounds) yesterday, Josh holds him 1-for-8 from the field. He doesn't get enough credit as a defender, he is a warrior. He isn't shooting the ball from the free throw line like he is capable, I don't know what, if it's mechanically maybe we have to look at it and just get him back on track because he is a good free throw shooter, certainly better than he shot today and even yesterday. I don't fault Josh or any one individual, you win as a team, you lose as a team, and I have to take ownership as the coach as well, I have to do a better job."
On It Being Hard To Push The Tempo In This Game
"They are using the whole shot clock, they're calling a play every time, the play breaks down and they call another play. Then they just try to junk it up defensively with that 1-3-1. Again, we attacked it early well, but then we got tentative and turned it over, and you can't do that, you have to make plays against that thing and we didn't enough consistently."
On GWU G Yuta Watanabe Being A Difference Maker
"That's what he does. Watanabe comes in and he gives you problems. We switched one through four when he came into the game so that the pick-and-pop wouldn't hurt us but we let him free in the corner and he hit a three; that was a big one for them. I'm still talking about defense, because I can't control the shots going in, I can't control the turnovers, but hopefully we can control what the other team does offensively and react to that. But it was a hard fought game and if somebody had to lose it was Buffs today. I told our team, it's hard to win college basketball games. As we go through the rest of the season we're going to be in a lot of games like this, so we better get used to it. We've been in two close games and we're 0-2 (this season), and we've got to change that tide."Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
