Lacrosse Hosts Stanford In Regular Season Home Finale

Buffs look to snap six-game losing streak to Stanford

BOULDER — Colorado (11-1, 3-0 MPSF) will host Stanford (7-3, 2-0 MPSF) in its final home game of the regular season on Friday, April 7, at 3 p.m. The Buffs will also honor its 16 seniors, who were all part of CU's first recruiting class, prior to the start of the game.
               
The 16 seniors are: Perri Baker, Amelia Brown, Cali Castagnola, Maddie DeWinter, Johnna Fusco, Sophia Gambitsky, Maddie Hunt, Emily Knapp, Tori Link, Katie Macleay, Claire McCain, Marie Moore, Annie Morsches, Molly Rovzar, Amanda Salvadore and Paige Soenksen.

ABOUT THE BUFFS: Colorado is 11-1 overall and owns a 3-0 record in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play. CU started the season with a school record 11 straight wins before losing its first game of the season at No. 5 Stony Brook. The loss slid the Buffs from fourth in all three polls, to fifth in a pair and sixth in the other. The Buffs have won 10 straight games at home and are looking to complete the season with an unblemished record at Kittredge Field.  
 
Darby Kiernan leads CU with 45 points (31 goals and 14 assists). She leads the league and ranks sixth nationally in draw controls per game (7.00) and is fourth in the MPSF, 19th in the NCAA, in free-position goals per game (0.92). Katie Macleay is second on the team with 38 points (25 goals and 13 assists), while Johnna Fusco is third with 34 points (28 goals and six assists). Fusco is the MPSF leader in free-position goals per game (1.30), which is fourth in the NCAA. Fusco is also fifth in the MPSF in goals per game (2.80), while Kiernan is eighth with 2.58.
 
Defensively, Paige Soenksen is third in the NCAA with a 7.40 goals against average and is fourth with a .562 save percentage. She leads the MPSF in save percentage and is second in goals against average.
 
The Buffs have only allowed 85 goals this season and have scored 180. As a team, CU has 86 caused turnovers this season. Sarah Brown has tallied 17 to lead the team, while Molly Rovzar is second with nine.
 
As a team, the Buffs lead the conference in three categories: draw controls per game (14.83), save percentage (.560) and win percentage (.917). They are second in scoring defense (7.08), scoring margin (7.92), scoring offense (15.00) and turnovers per game (15.08). In the NCAA, CU is second in scoring defense, third in win percentage and scoring margin, fourth in saves percentage and 10th in draw controls per game.
 
ABOUT THE CARDINAL: Stanford has recorded a 7-3 record this season and is 2-0 in the MPSF. The Cardinal recorded six straight wins after starting the season 1-2. Yale halted SU's streak with a 15-12 decision on April 1.
 
Kelsey Murray leads the Cardinal with 40 points this season (25g, 15a). She ranks second in the conference in assists per game (1.50). Elizabeth Cusick is the top goal scorer for SU with 26 and ranks second on the team in points (31). Her 2.60 goals per game ranks seventh in the MPSF. Stanford has five other players on the team who have scored 10 or more goals this year as the team averages 14.90 goals per game.
 
In net, Allie Dacar is allowing 10.75 goals per game and has a .406 save percentage.
 
As a team, the Cardinal leads the MPSF with 12.30 caused turnovers per game, which ranks seventh nationally. SU is also second in the league in points per game with 21.30 (13th in the NCAA). Its scoring offense is third in the MPSF, but ranks 10th in the NCAA (14.90).
 
THE SERIES: Stanford leads the all-time series against the Buffs (6-0). The Cardinal has taking all three regular season meetings between the two teams, as well as three decisions against the Buffs in the semi-finals of the MSPF Tournament.  
 
HOME GAME INFORMATION: All of Colorado's home games will be played at Kittredge Field. Admission is free, as is parking in Lot 416 one hour prior to each game.
 
PROMOTIONS:
•              With this being the last MPSF game for the Buffs, the marketing department will throw out Pac-12 t-shirts after CU goals.
•              The CU Alumni Association will be at the game handing out pom-poms, beads, sunglasses and other CU gear to fans.
•              The first 50 CU students in attendance will receive a free aluminum water bottle.
 
UP NEXT: The Buffs hit the road for two straight weekends of MPSF action to wrap-up the regular season. CU will head to Southern California to face No. 9 USC on April 14, before taking on San Diego State on April 16. The final two contests will be on April 21 (St. Mary's) and April 23 (California).
