Buffs Get Third Straight Win, Top Air Force 4-3
February 04, 2018 | Tennis
BOULDER – The University of Colorado Tennis team earned its third straight win here Sunday toppling Air Force 4-3 at the Rocky Mountain Tennis Complex.
WHAT HAPPENED
The Buffs kicked off the day clinching the doubles point. Playing No. 2 doubles, Chloe Hule and Brigitte Beck took town Jones and Harvey of Air Force in a smooth 6-3 match. With a comeback victory on court three, Linda Huang and Kyra Wojcik battled Laskey and Hatcliff of Air Force. Huang and Wojcik were down 5-1 early, but battled back to find the 7-5 victory to clinch the doubles point.
"I feel like we had nine positions out here competing," head coach Nicole Kenneally said. "We may not have gotten the results we wanted, but we were competing hard. Ultimately, that is what you want. You are not always going to play at your highest level, but can you compete at your highest level and the ability to come out here and make it happen is a part of the mental game. I think we did that today."
After doubles, the Buffs were up 1-0 on the Falcons.
In singles play, Linda Huang took care of business playing in the No. 1 spot. The freshman quickly got out to a 6-2 start and continued on adding the second 7-5 victory to take the win over Fumagalli. Senior Louise Ronaldson fell 6-1, 6-2 to Air Force's Barnickel to put Air Force on the board 2-1.
Chloe Hule got off to a slower start in her first set, going down early but she battled back to take set one 7-5. After winning the first set, Hule continued her strong play winning the second set 6-1 to put the Buffs up 3-1 over the Falcons.
Kyra Wojcik clinched the match for the Buffs defeating Air Force's Hatcliff, 6-0, 6-2.
The Buffs will stay home for the next five straight matches including a pair of home matches next weekend. CU will host Sacramento State on Saturday February 10 at 11:00 am and Boise State on Sunday at 11:00 am. Follow @CUBuffsTennis on Twitter for updates!

"Kyra clinching both singles and doubles today. She didn't even realize she did! Her and Linda clinched the doubles after being 5-1 down, which is huge. And then she played solid in singles to clinch the match. It was a good day for her."
