February 20, 2020 | Tennis
BOULDER – The University of Colorado women's tennis team takes on Wyoming this Saturday at 12 p.m. in the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center.
Â
Colorado (6-3) are coming off of a close 4-3 win against Iowa on their home court, while Wyoming (5-1) hasn't given up a point this month after sweeping Montana State, Seattle and Southeastern Louisiana. The Cowgirls' lone loss came against Tulsa on the road.
Â
The Buffaloes continue to be led by a pair of young student-athletes as both Antonia Balzert and Sophia Derivan picked up their 13th win of the season. Derivan has a team-best 8-1 record in dual matches while Balzert is 7-2. Megan Forster is also coming off an important win in Iowa.
Â
Doubles play has been key as No.31-ranked Monica Malinen and Sara Nayar picked up their first dual doubles win last weekend against the Hawkeyes. Colorado has a 13-7 record in doubles matches this season in duals, including Derivan and Ky Ecton who are 4-0.
Â
The Buffs begin a three-match home stretch before entering conference play. The team finishes out the stretch against Denver and Minnesota Feb. 22 and 23.
