Volleyball Buffs Open Big 12 Play with No. 17 BYU and Utah

BOULDER – The Colorado volleyball team (7-5) officially returns to the Big 12 this week, opening conference play on the road against No. 17 BYU (7-3) on Thursday and former Pac-12 opponent Utah (10-1) on Sunday.
CU finished nonconference play last week, splitting its annual home-and-home matches with nonconference rival Colorado State. The Buffs will go to Provo, Utah, on Sept. 26 to play the Cougars at George Albert Smith Fieldhouse, and the Black and Gold will meet a former Pac-12 opponent in Utah (10-1) in Salt Lake City at Jon M. Huntsman Center on Sept. 29.
The Buffs will meet the Cougars for the fifth time in program history and the Utes for the 31st time.

THE BUFFS RETURN: For the first time since the 2010 season, Colorado are playing volleyball in the Big 12 Conference. The Buffs are 146-154 (.487) in Big 12 conference play and had an 88-32 (.733) record in the Big Eight. Colorado's two conference championships came in the Big Eight in 1992 and again in 1993 when the Buffs defeated eighth-ranked Nebraska in a five-set thriller.
MILESTONE WATCH: So. OH Ana Burilovic currently sits at 194 career digs, six away from 200, and 47 career aces, three away from 50. She also has 278 career kills, 22 away from 300. So. OH Sydney Jordan sits at 97 digs on the season, three away from 100. So. OPP Lily Dwinell currently has 275 career-kills, 25 away from 300. Jr. DS/L Sarah Morton currently has 911 career-digs (including her digs from Auburn).
MILESTONE CHECK: So. DS/L Avery Bolles surpassed 100 digs on the season, ending the weekend with 102 and reached 139 in her career. Sr. S Taylor Simpson reached 100 career-kills over the CSU matches. So. OPP Lily Dwinell recorded her 100th block.
DOUBLE OR NOTHING: So. OH Sydney Jordan recorded her second double-double of the season against CSU (Sept. 20), her second of her career, with 11 digs and 10 kills.

- Sr. S Taylor Simpson has reached 472 assists this season (2,451 in her career) and is currently averaging 9.63 assists per set.
