AUSTIN, Texas — Colorado women's golf is in eighth place after the first two rounds of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational played Monday at the University of Texas Golf Club.

The Buffaloes shot two of their higher rounds of the season, logging 22-over-par in the first round, followed by a round of 23-over for the second 18 holes to sit at 45-over, 621.

High scoring rounds were the theme of the day however as Colorado sits right in the middle of the pack of the 14-team tournament which features seven top 40 teams. Host and No. 7 ranked Texas is the leader after two rounds at 7-over, a full 12 strokes better than No. 13 LSU. No. 2 Arkansas is third at 22-over.

Texas was the only team with a round in the red, at 2-under through the first 18 holes before dropping to 9-over in the second round. All but four of the 28 team rounds were double-digits over par. Monday's average score on the 6,473-yard par-72 UT Golf Club was 78.83, nearly 7-over per round.

Colorado is just one stroke behind Louisville and the top half of the field. The Buffaloes have a four-shot lead over No. 33 ranked UNLV.

Senior Maria Eidhagen Harrouch had Colorado's low 36 holes at 1-over 145 and heads into Tuesday's final round four strokes out of the lead.

Eidhagen Harrouch had a bit of a slow start playing her first five holes at 2-over. From there she made birdies on the par-4 10th and par-5 14th to get back to even, where she stayed, ending her first round with a 72.

In the second round, Eidhagen Harrouch dipped into the red with a birdie on the par-3 eighth. She dropped back to even on the par-5 11th but picked up another birdie at the par-4 15th. Eidhagen Harrouch stayed at 1-under through 16, putting herself in a position to be in second place heading into the final round, but dropped back into a four-way tie for third with bogeys on her final two holes at the first and second.

"Great day by Maria, she played fantastic golf from start to finish," Colorado head coach Madeleine Sheils said. "Her power is a big advantage on this golf course, plus every part of her game was in good shape today."

Freshman Sydney Givens, playing in her hometown, is tied for 38th after two rounds at 13-over. Junior Morgan Miller and freshman Ellen O'Shaughnessy are tied with five others for 50th at 16-over. Sophomore Carolyn Fuller is tied for 71st at 25-over.

Miller had the single-hole highlight of the day with a hole-in-one on the 174-yard par-3 second during the second round, using an eight iron. It was her first collegiate ace and Colorado's first hole-in-one in nearly 10 years.

Morgan's hole in one was another highlight," Sheils said. "Other than that, it was a tough day for the team. This golf course is challenging on a good day, and with wind and fast greens today, it was a bear. This is the type of test we will see more of in the post-season though, so we have to learn from the mistakes and big misses. We'll come out ready to compete tomorrow."

Cindy Hsu of Texas is the individual leader, and the only player in the red, at 3-under. LSU's Rocio Tejedo is three strokes back at even, one shot better than the foursome at 1-over that includes Colorado's Eidhagen Harrouch.

Tuesday's third and final round begins at 7:30 a.m. MT with a shotgun start.
