BOULDER—The Colorado Buffaloes Ski Team, which finished second at the NCAA Championships in March, will host its annual end-of-season Nor-Alp Schralp at Eldora Ski Resort Saturday at 9 a.m. as part of the resort's CU Day.

A friendly competition within the ski team, which is comprised of four smaller teams, alpine and Nordic, men and women, the Nor-Alp Schralp will see all of CU's skiers compete in both alpine and Nordic racing, each partnerting up with a member of another discipline to form two-skier teams.

Alpine races will begin at 9:15 a.m. on the Chute run, located at the base area and skiers can use the best time out of two runs.  Alpine skiers get penalized a second for each gate they touch during the runs.

The action will then turn toward Nordic racing where the teams will each complete two laps in a relay format with their teammate starting at approximately 10 a.m. at the Nordic base area by the Chute and Bonanza runs.  Awards and recognition will follow.
CU Day will also include CU's clubs that use Eldora for training including the Boulder Freeride Club, the CU Freeskiing Team, CU's Snowboarding Team and the Colorado Ski Racing team, CU's club alpine team.

Live music will also be part of the festivities with DJs Mizzi & Gerig spinning live from the Woodward BoomBox from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by five-piece jam-grass band Liver Down the River live from 12 p.m. to at least 3 p.m. on the West Wing Lodge Deck.

Eldora is located less than 20 miles west of Boulder and there is an RTD bus route that goes up to starting at 5:30 a.m. and leaving Eldora as late as 5 p.m.

Founded in 1962, Eldora is one of the few ski resorts in Colorado on the east side of the Continental Divide and was founded in part to be a training location for CU's NCAA ski team as well as serve the CU and Boulder communities.
