Colorado Tops Hoop City In Exhibition
July 26, 2025 | Men's Basketball
BOULDER – Colorado opened its four-game exhibition tour of Australia on a good note with a 92-82 win over Hoop City in Melbourne, Saturday evening locally (early a.m. Saturday back in Boulder).
Sophomore Sebastian Rancik led the Buffaloes with 25 points, hitting 7 of 13 from the field, knocking down three 3-pointers and 8 of 9 from the free throw line.
Elijah Malone had 15 points, hitting 7 of 9 from the field, with a team-high eight rebounds. Junior transfer Barrington Hargress had 11 points and dished out a team-best four assists.
The freshman back-court duo of Jalin Holland and Josiah Sanders had solid debuts. Holland had seven points, seven rebounds and three assists. Sanders pitched in 10 points, hitting 5 of 9 from the floor.
Colorado shot 54 percent from the field and dished out 20 assists.
"The guys played extremely hard, especially with their bodies in extreme jet jag," said Colorado head coach Tad Boyle whose team had just arrived in the country 33 hours before tip. "Our defensive pressure made the difference. We did not guard the three point line well, but we competed our tails off."
The Buffaloes will now travel to Gold Coast near Brisbane for the next five days. Colorado is scheduled to play its second game against the Gold Coast All-Stars on Tuesday, July 29, with a 3 a.m. MT tip (7 p.m. local).
