Buffs Finish Ninth In Washington
September 16, 2025 | Women's Golf
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – The Colorado women's golf team wrapped up the first fall tournament of the season, tying for ninth at the Leadership & Golf Invitational, Tuesday afternoon at the Chambers Bay Golf Course.
The Buffaloes shot 14-over-par, 302, in the final round to end the 54-hole event at 34-over, 898.
Eastern Michigan went wire-to-wire for the team title, finishing at 5-under. Oregon State had the best team round of the day at 3-under to finish four strokes back.
It was a tough finish for the Buffaloes, who entered the day tied for sixth in the standings and played close to even-par for most of the day. Colorado was in good position for a top-five finish, with its scoring golfers playing 1-over through 14 holes, but the Buffaloes had their struggles by dropping 13 strokes over the final four.
"We are all disappointed with the final result, but we're a young team," Colorado head coach Madeleine Sheils said. "We'll learn from it and bounce back."
Freshman Teemapat Pateetin led Colorado as the team's low 54-hole scorer, tying for 20th at 6-over, 222, after a round of 76 on Tuesday.
Junior Maya McVey tied for 24th overall at 8-over, 224. She tied for the team's best round of the day, along with junior Carolyn Fuller at 3-under, 75. Fuller tied for 37th overall at 10-over, 226.
Freshman Brenna Higgins wrapped up her collegiate debut, tying for 47th at 13-over, following a final round of 76. Ellen O'Shaughnessy tied for 50th overall at 14-over.
Colorado returns to action next week at the Colonel Wollenberg Ram Classic, Sept. 22-23, at the Ptarmigan Golf Course in Fort Collins, Colo.
