Buffs vs. BYU

Buffs Fall to Cougars, 75-62

February 28, 2026 | Women's Basketball

PROVO, Utah – The Colorado women's basketball team (20-10, 11-7 Big 12) fell to BYU (20-10, 9-9 Big 12), 75-62, at Marriott Center in the Buffs' regular season finale on Saturday, Feb. 28.

The Buffaloes saw the Cougars take an early lead in their final regular season game. BYU ended the first quarter ahead by four and extended its lead in the second. Jr. G Desiree Wooten carried the Colorado momentum with 17 points in the first half, scoring six of those in the final 40 seconds of the second quarter to bring CU within two of BYU. The Black and Gold pulled ahead in the third, but the Cougars took the lead with a run in the fourth to take the game, 75-62.

"I'm not concerned about the future, I'm just concerned about why did it happen," head coach JR Payne stated. "I think the film will be very telling. I actually thought they played harder than we did, which I don't think I've ever said about our ball club. I think there were loose balls that they beat us to and things like that. So obviously they played a great game and congrats to them and that's awesome, but I definitely am disappointed with our effort in spots, not overall."

Colorado had more bench points (37-26) and blocks (4-3) than BYU.
