BOULDER — Former Colorado football student-athlete Paul Vigo passed away on March 30. He was 36.

Vigo was a member of the Colorado Buffaloes from 2010–13 and appeared in 32 games during his career, contributing on defense and special teams. After beginning his career in the secondary, he moved to linebacker and started five games in 2012, finishing with 46 tackles, three passes broken up and multiple tackles for loss.

As a senior in 2013, Vigo played in all 11 games and was selected as one of six team captains. He was a key contributor on special teams, recording 14 special teams points with 11 knockdown blocks, two forced fair catches and a downed punt.

He graduated from Colorado in December 2013 with a degree in sociology.

Following his time at CU, Vigo served a tour of duty in Iraq in 2015. After returning home, he worked as a correctional officer, police officer and most recently as a youth coordinator in York, Pennsylvania.

Vigo is survived by his wife, Sarah, and their three children, ages 12, 7 and 5.

Buffs4Life has established the Paul Vigo Family Fund to support his family. Vigo was the sole provider, and the organization is assisting with financial needs during this time. Buffs4Life is a nonprofit that supports former Colorado student-athletes and their families, and all donations are tax deductible.
